The Department of Mathematics and Statistics was established in 2015. The Department offers programs in the areas of mathematics and statistics that leads to the degree of Master of Science and Ph.D. in Mathematics/Statistics. The department offers facilities for intensive training and research in the basic areas of Mathematics (including Applied Mathematics) and Statistics. Research interests in Mathematics include Differential Geometry, General Topology, Numerical Analysis, Partial Differential Equations, Mathematical Physics and Mechanics etc. Research interests in Statistics include Regression Analysis, Copula Theory, Sampling Design, Spatial Statistics, Density Estimation, Quality Control, and Design of Experiments. In past few years, around 20 students have got jobs in different Government and Private organizations and 20 students are pursuing Ph. D. from different reputed Institutes of India and abroad. Furthermore, more than 35 students have cleared CSIR-UGC NET-JRF/GATE examinations.
About Ramanujan Mathematical Society
The Ramanujan Mathematical Society (RMS), founded in 1985, has the main purpose of promoting Mathematics at all levels. From the year of inception, the Society has received immense support from mathematics fraternity both in India and abroad. Through its four publications: Journal of the Ramanujan Mathematical Society, Lecture Notes Series, Collected Works Series, and the Newsletter, the Society has been carrying out its unstinted efforts in the spread of Mathematics.
About the Conference
The 37th Annual Conference of the Ramanujan Mathematical Society to be hosted by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Central University of Punjab in collaboration with the Ramanujan Mathematical Society is intended to bring pioneering and upcoming researchers to a common platform to discuss the pressing issues in Mathematical Sciences. The main objective of the Conference is to give a platform to mathematicians from different parts of the world to interact with each other and exchange their ideas. Annual Conference of RMS serve as an excellent platform to inculcate research interest among young minds on recent applications of pure and applied mathematics. The 37th Annual Conference of RMS welcomes contributions related to all traditional as well as modern areas of mathematics and its application in pure and applied mathematics. Authors are invited to submit their papers; if accepted, will be scheduled for oral presentation in virtual mode. The conference is intended for three days (July 22-24, 2022) with Plenary Lectures, Invited talks, and Paper Presentations by young researchers in all areas of Pure and Applied Mathematics.
