Eagle and Robin Transition Project

The Eagle and Robin Transition Project 2022

Developed through a partnership with Culcheth High School and Newchurch Primary School, The Eagle and Robin Transition Project is a collection of smaller transition projects designed to introduce Year 6 students to key knowledge and skills from a range of secondary ‘Ebacc’ subjects: English, maths, science, geography and history.

For each subject there are five one-hour lesson plans, student resources, apparatus where appropriate, and an accompanying PowerPoint. These resources have been trialled with a number of primary schools and are reviewed and refined each year.

  • To improve attainment for Year 6 pupils.

  • To provide enrichment opportunities at Key Stage 2.

  • To produce sustainable and exportable transition projects that can delivered in a range of primary schools.

The CHS MFL KS2 Foundation Project

The CHS MFL KS2 Foundation Project is a set of lessons and resources designed to introduce students in Year 5 or Year 6 to the pleasure of learning Spanish and French. The lessons are designed for absolute beginners who have not had any experience of the language or children who may have had a little exposure to the language and can perhaps speak a few words or short sentences. The lessons are designed so that they can be delivered by non-subject-specialists. The teacher does not need to be fluent in (or even able to speak) the language being taught.

Aims

  • To engage students in beginning to learn a language and enthuse them to continue
