Hi, thanks for visiting my labpage. About myself, is one of the most difficult things to do. Let me give it a try. I started with a brief stint in 2004-05 at the Energy and Wetland Research Group, Centre for Ecological Sciences, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. I pursued my PhD on biological CO₂ sequestration at National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI), Nagpur, India. Subsequently, I worked on Clean Development Mechanism Projects for Indian Industry Clients at Emergent Ventures India, Gurugram that were later approved by United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). I joined Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), a leading industry chamber in India in 2009, and worked on projects and policies, often apprising Government of India about industry views in the Environment, Climate Change and Renewable Energy sectors. A major project at FICCI sponsored by US Environment Protection Agency was the Global Methane Initiative (Formerly Methane to Markets) which involved working with MoEFCC, MNRE and MoUD, Government of India on waste management initiatives across India. I was desperate at that time to get back into research, which is my passion, and I joined as a post-doctoral fellow at Korea Research Institute of Bioscience & Biotechnology (KRIBB) from 2011-2016 researching on phycology. Currently, at Central University of Kerala since 2016, my Group’s research interest is on wetlands, phycology, algal biotechnology and environmental technologies. Sure Labs also works on critical analysis of climate change and environmental policies of India. I am concurrently a Brainpool Invited Scholar at KRIBB after accepting an invitation from National Research Foundation (NRF), Republic of Korea since September 2021. I am serving as a member in the Editorial Board of Frontiers in Microbiology & PLoS One, and reviewer for several journals. You may visit the publications tab of this website for further details. I love reading books (almost all genres), playing cricket, listening to music, food and cooking, singing, and travelling.

Currently, I am doing my PhD at Sure Labs on "Artificial Algae-Bacteria Microbiome for Bioremediation, Pelletization and Resource Recovery of Critically Deficient Heavy Metals". I completed my post graduation from the Department of Environmental Science, Central University of Kerala. After that, I have worked as an Assistant Professor on contract basis at Department of Environmental Studies, Mangattuparamba Campus, Kannur University. I qualified Joint CSIR-UGC NET in Earth, Atmospheric, Oceanographic and Planetary Sciences with all India rank 26 in June, 2013.

I am pursuing my PhD on synthesis of blended and biodegradable polymers from microalgae at Sure Labs. The aim of the project is to replace single use plastics with algae based biodegradable alternatives including working on innovative & sustainable processes. l have completed my MSc in Environmental Science from Central University of Kerala in 2018 and have qualified UGC-NET in the year 2019.

I am currently doing my PhD at Sure Labs on the topic UV irradiation induced physiological and biochemical changes in selected algal species and it’s evolutionary and biotechnological implications. As part of the project, we have visited various wetlands in high UV irradiation hotspots across India. I completed my post graduation in Environmental Science from the Central University of Kerala in the year 2018. I have interned at CSIR-NEERI, Nagpur as a project trainee during my summer internship of my post graduation. On completion of my Masters, I worked as a research intern at Center of Ecological Sciences, IISc, Bangalore for 6 months during which I worked in a bio-acoustics behavioral study of field crickets followed by a field internship in North Sikkim by Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun where I worked with a project aimed at study of human-wildlife conflict. I have also had the opportunity to closely collaborate with school students with help of NGOs to organize educational trips to ecologically sensitive locations and facilitate awareness and knowledge among youth. I qualified UGC-NET JRF in the year 2019.

I am currently pursuing PhD at Sure Labs on emerging plastic pollutants and their effects on phytoplankton, primary producers in freshwater resources around us. My major areas of research interest include Wetland conservation, Water quality analysis and GIS. I completed my M.Sc. in Environmental Science at Central University of Kerala in the year 2019 . I have qualified UGC-JRF in Environmental Sciences and GATE in Ecology and Evolution in the year 2019.

Currently I am working as JRF at Sure Labs on a SERB funded research project entitled "ALUV-X- Developing algae based sunscreen formulations for wide ranging UV protection". I completed my post graduation in Marine Microbiology from Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) in 2019. As a part of my M.Sc., I did my dissertation at Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute, Kochi for 6 months. And I have qualified CSIR-UGC NET December 2019 in Life Science.

From my undergrad years in Microbiology, I was keen on discovering my area of interest to work in, thus ventured into Environmental Science. During my Postgrad at the Central University of Kerala, I worked at Sure Labs and contributed to a project on ocean plastic awareness, and worked on my dissertation, on Urban Water Demand Forecasting for Indian Cities.

After completing the course in 2021, I joined as a Research Intern at Sustainable Communities India, Pune, where I worked for 7 months on Sustainable Development, Low Carbon Initiatives, and research on Industrial Decarbonisation in the textile sector. The various encounters during my internship intrigued me with the idea to pursue interdisciplinary research in environmental microbiology, with the central idea of environmental sustainability and development.

I am also remotely working on a manuscript on Urban Water Demand Forecasting and Modelling for Indian Cities in the Post COVID times, under the mentorship of Dr. Rishi, as a Research Intern from December 2021. I qualified for UGC-NET in June 2020.
