The Center for Research in Vision, Image, Graphics (VIG) and Robotics was founded in 2011 at CUI Lahore to offer a centralized and multidisciplinary platform for research in computer vision, image processing, geometric modeling, and robotics. The center is supported by foreign-qualified and experienced PhD faculty. Our work focuses on the growing demands of society, industry, and the market in areas like AI, machine learning, medical imaging, video analytics, forensic analysis, cyber security, and geometric modeling. Applications cover a wide range including healthcare, forensics, media, smart city systems, security, civil aviation, NESCOM, disaster management, GIS, OCR, and more.
We strongly encourage honest and independent research, avoid paid and buddy publications, and prefer reputed, free, impact-factor journals. Our aim is to prepare students with strong skills and confidence to succeed without unfair support. Most of our graduate students are sponsored to visit international research partners abroad.

Secured 2nd Position in the AIEF 3rd International AI Championship held at LUMS on Sep. 1, 2025, organized by Soliton Technologies. The award-winning prototype, titled “Multimedia Forensic Analysis”, was developed by Mr. Omer Farooq bin Atif and Ms. Mariam Ali, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Habib and co-supervision of Dr. Naheed Akhtar. The project reflects a decade of continuous research by our dedicated team, including Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hussain, Prof. Dr. Paul Rosin, Prof. Dr. Xianfang Sun, Dr. Mubashar Chaudhry, and Dr. Khurshid Asghar (Late).

Secured 3rd Position in the AIEF 1st National AI Competition held at LUMS Lahore Campus on July 22, 2023. The final year project titled “Forensic Face Matching at Airports During Passport Control” was developed by Mr. M. Awais, Mr. Abdullah, and Mr. Huzaifa Tariq, selected from over 200 outstanding entries. The project was supervised by Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Habib and co-supervised by Dr. Allah Bux Sargana and Mr. Mohsin.
