In this workshop, led by Dr. Yvette Stuewe, graduate students were invited to think critically about how artificial intelligence intersects with scholarly writing. Using the framework of augmentation, substitution, and abdication, presenters explored the spectrum of AI use, from enhancing one’s thinking to over-reliance that can undermine learning and authorial voice. The session emphasized practical strategies for integrating AI as a support tool while preserving originality, rigor, and ethical responsibility in academic work.
