In my class, a webquest requires that students examine a variety of sources from across the internet to address an essential question.

Try this process for creating your own webquest

1. Create an essential question or "question of significance" to guide your webquest.

The new California History-Social Science Framework organizes the grade-level content around questions of significance, designed to promote the use of inquiry as an effective and engaging instructional method. Well crafted and meaningful questions give purpose to student learning.

2. Curate and Organize Content

Curating content is the most fun but can also be the most overwhelming. Be sure the content supports the essential question and always go back to your purpose!

VISUALS: Infographics, charts, graphs (or DIY with Google Draw or Piktochart)

VIDEO: Embed videos from Youtube or, for more accountability, embed a video from EdPuzzle

AUDIO: Soundcloud files are free and easy to embed in Google Sites. We also listen to lots of podcasts, HERE are some of my favorites.

OTHER INTERACTIVE FEATURES: Quizlet sets, Quizizz, Kahoot, Padlet , WordCloud

3. Build a Google Site...so fun and so easy!

4. Make it Interactive with Insert Learning!

InsertLearning (formerly DocentEdu) is a Google Chrome extension that lets you embed questions, notes, highlights, and other tools into any webpage (including Sites and published Google Docs) and allows students to interact with those custom embedded features.

Get the Insert Learning Extension HERE.

Check out a ton of example lessons for all subject areas from InsertLearning HERE.

These are some of my favorite IL tutorials!

Good to Know

Insert Learning has a free version but I use the teacher paid version (see below). I prefer free stuff too but this is $40 well spent!
