The purpose of the CMS PTO is to support students and staff members and improve family and community engagement.
The mission of the CMS PTO shall be to enhance the educational environment at Cumberland Middle School through volunteer and financial resources; to promote communication between the school administration, staff, parents, and students; and to foster pride in Cumberland Middle School throughout the community.
Both the president and treasurer will sign checks and contracts
The fiscal year will run from July 1st to June 30th each year
An audit will be conducted at the end of each fiscal year, whenever a new treasurer takes over, and whenever there is a suspicion of financial mismanagement)
An audit will be conducted semiannually led by a team of three to five board members not including the president or treasurer. If there is suspicion of financial mismanagement, an outside audit will be conducted by a CPA.
Proof of receipts are required for all reimbursements, using a designated reimbursement form. If there was a school function that parents contributed to that was canceled, the board would vote to refund the money.
Members are subject to a background check, pending membership. Members must pay annual dues. Parents, grandparents, caregivers and CUCPS staff members are able to join.
Annual dues for the 2023-2024 school year are $10.
Members are able to volunteer at events (subject to a background check), vote, hold office, and chair a committee
Meetings will occur once monthly and are subject to change. Meeting dates, times, and locations will be shared in advance via the CMS PTO website and facebook page. The purpose of meetings will be to address fundraising, school functions, and any other PTO business.
