I thought that I’d never find
That beautiful life,
That glimmers and sparkles,
That shines.
But in your eyes, I saw it,
A flicker, a spark,
A warmth I had longed for
In the cold, endless dark.
Yet love, like the ocean,
Can pull and can break,
I learned to float close,
But knew when to wake.
The tide pulled so gently,
But it drowned me inside,
And I whispered to the moon,
"Can love leave but still abide?"
I stayed, I pulled closer,
But the weight grew too much,
The words turned to whispers,
Your hands lost their touch.
I can feel the drift now,
As the pull starts to fade,
The space between us
A quiet barricade.
But my heart? My heart still remembers,
Still beats in the rhythm of your name,
Still dances in the memories,
Still burns with the same flame.
Yet, the only way forward
Is the step away,
To heal what is broken,
And let the heart sway.
I’m pulling away,
Not out of hate,
But out of love—
Before it’s too late.
For even when love is distant,
Still, it lingers, still it stays,
Shining in a place beyond
The reach of yesterday
