In this Brunopean tale, we learn the origins of the Triad, an oppressive and dictatorial monarchy that seeks to absorb all the wonder of its people. Not only do we learn about the structure of that monarchy, but how it created the current oppression of its people.
For this tale, we will again go into the world of Brunope, which is filled with many creatures and animals alike, but this tale takes a more sinister turn. It will explore the Triad, the ruling power of Brunope that has a history of stifling the wonder that the people of Brunope have tried to express over the years but have been suppressed by the Triad ruling class.
The Triad monarchy consists of a King and a Queen Consort who rule the civilized parts of Brunope, which are to the west of the Island of Pathan and the unincorporated territories. The King of Brunope is Jonathan the First, and his Queen Consort is Anabel the Conquered. The King also has an heir apparent to the throne, Matthew the Envisioned.
The ruling pair did not rule from Pyron, the capital city of the Priala Wizard Order in the southern part of the Wayard, but rather from Wayard’s capital city, Jyarthra, a medieval city riddled with poverty, where wonder, away from the current regime of the Triad to a better future, is suppressed. People who search for scraps often resort to illegal means to get what they need to survive.
He was advised by the Chosen, a group of the most gifted subjects within Wayard’s capital city of Jyartha and some of the smartest and strongest. The members of this special club form a sort of elite within the capital city that has a special influence over the Triad.
The members include the Finance Minister, Jerome Quincy; the War Minster, Sir Callum Brightley; the Knowledge Minster, Brother George Pierre; and a head guard of the protected Sir Bryce Howard.
This story will detail how the members of the Chosen, under the direction of King Jonathan and Queen Anabel, manage to stifle the little wonder that people had for a better future in the Capital city. It will explore how people were oppressed to the point where their moral soul was nearly diminished, and almost had to resign themselves to the fact that there may never be a change in how they live their lives.
On a sunny afternoon, during a bright summer day in the Capital of Wayard, the Chosen had assembled to discuss how they could further expand the power of King Jonathan and strengthen his hold on the people of Wayard within Brunope. Those in the room could not believe what they were hearing.
The ego of King Jonathan had expanded to unparalleled heights to the extent that he wanted to quell the hope that had been building ever since his forces lost in an offensive to the Priala Wizards in their capital city of Pyron, which he attempted to overtake but was unable to due to their stronghold.
This story will detail how the members of the Chosen, under the direction of King Jonathan and Queen Anabel, manage to stifle the little wonder that people had for a better future in the Capital city.
In the meeting, King Jonathan was very emotional since the mission was a total failure and cost the lives of his men. This was not the only problem, as he had to deal with the issue of having to replace them. A concern of this was that he did not want to burn out his people with many wars, as that would lessen the support that he currently had with them.
The main topic of discussion among the members of the chosen was the path forward to quelling and preventing any wonder the citizens may have of rejecting Jonathan’s near dictatorship of the Wayard that was currently explored. Some of these measures included forbidding all communication, locking everyone within the palace gates, and drafting everyone into the palace guard.
The conversation was mainly led by Sir Callum Brightley and Brother George Pierre since it was their jurisdiction for their chosen portfolios. The part of the discussion led by Brother Pierre was mainly about storing knowledge and protecting it from wizards. Sir Brightley was primarily leading the discussions on whether to begin another counter to what had just recently happened with the wizards.
“Though the battle with the wizards was a major setback, my king, we do not want this situation to further spiral out of control,” said Sir Callum Brightley. “I urge the crown to proceed to future actions with caution and not to act solely based on emotion, as not only do we want the wizards to believe that they have a shot at defeating us, but we do not want to lose our power to the people.”
There was a drop of silence in the room as members of the Chosen were not permitted to prevent any evidence suggesting the crown was failing, as the crown always needs to look like it is doing well and not presented in a bad light in any manner. The reaction from the rest of them was to roll their eyes to prevent themselves from being placed in the King’s good graces.
“Sir Brightley, you know the rules, don’t you? Have I not explained them a million times to you?” The King was furious about Sir Callum's actions since he broke some of the sacred rules of his kingdom. He was perplexed by the Knight's words since the people also loved and adored him, and there was nothing he could do to upset them.
“As a result of your insolence, Sir Brightley, to prepare for the tough years ahead against our foes on the Wayard, I will be making it compulsory for all men to serve in the guard that you lead, and anyone else will be forced to perform mandatory tasks throughout the kingdom.”
The meeting ended abruptly, and so began a winter of not only intolerance but poverty, famine, and pure cruelty. Men were forced to leave their wives and children were forced into labor to meet the kingdom’s grueling demands. The public approval of the crown went so fast it felt like they were getting out of style. The king stripped all the wonders that had previously been there and felt empty until a certain someone showed up.
