"little me"
"little me"
Christina Young (Class of 2027) is pursuing a major in Architecture.
This is a poem about a deep moral topic. I'll leave it to the reader to guess what they think it is about.
i can’t see
the whole world.
i can’t make
decisions for myself.
my hearing is guarded like a locked gate that will not open.
i can only touch the little things around me.
there’s not much to smell.
everything is so cramped in here.
But one day, I will see a great light.
I will look at the beautiful but dangerous
world around me. I will make decisions once I am strong
and old enough to do so.
I will feel the breeze and the rain as it falls
on my skin like the leaves that fall
down as winter nears.
I will smell the home made bread that my mother makes so perfectly.
I will run and jump and dance and sing and
cry and argue and agree and disagree.
But most importantly, I will remember that little me
has a purpose on this earth.
And though I may just be little me, just maybe,
others will see that too.
