"How Lucky"
"How Lucky"

During my semester abroad in Italy, I’ve learned so much about the great heroes of the Eternal City. As I pass the monuments dedicated in their memory and walk the same cobblestone paths they once did, I’m reminded of the fact that without these people’s strength, courage, and perseverance, Rome wouldn’t be what it is today. The city has seen its fair share of triumphs and defeats throughout history, yet still, it stands. And so my time in Rome inspired me to write a song dedicated to my own personal hero, a great man whom I would not be the same today without: my dad.
If they asked for the greatest man,
I’d gladly give your name
You’ve given me some faith
that everything will be okay
It’s so easy to thank you
for all the things you’ve done
I bet it’s not easy
to carry the weight of everyone
How lucky I am to know you
How lucky you’re in my life
You fight all the fires I’m trapped in
You give me your best all the time
Ooh, ooh, you’re everything I want to be
Ooh, ooh, I’ll make you proud, just wait and see
You’re so wise and so kind, unafraid to be
And that’s rare in this age of fake modesty
You always say you’re not perfect
but you’re perfect to me
How lucky I am to know you
How lucky you’re in my life
You fight all the fires I’m trapped in
You give me your best all the time
Ooh, ooh, you’re everything I want to be
Ooh, ooh, I’ll make you proud, just wait and see
I’ll follow you wherever you go
And I’ll gladly praise your name
You’ve done more good than you’ll ever know
No matter what they say
You’ve never failed to save the day
Ooh, ooh, you’re everything I want to be
Ooh, ooh, I’ll make you proud, just wait and see
‘Cause you’re my hero, I’ll love you always
I wouldn’t want anyone else
You mean the world to me
I’ll do my best to make you proud
I’m so grateful that a hero in you, I found
