In July, I went to Alaska with my grandmother, my aunt, and my sister for a Disney Cruise. Most of these photos are from our port excursions in Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan. In Skagway, we met sled dogs and wandered the town; in Juneau, my sister and I went kayaking and found a used bookstore to replenish my book supply after finishing the two I brought; in Ketchikan, my family and I explored the town with a tour guide who taught us about photography as well as local culture. All in all, it was a fantastic trip with beautiful sights and great food.
This shot is from my favorite spot on the Disney Wonder. On Deck 3, there were these huge portholes with padded seats. I spent quite a few hours at sea in this spot, and I even finished two books!
This is the Sawyer Glacier in Alaska. I saw a sheet of ice break off and create quite the wave at the bottom there.
Here is a street in Skagway. The whole town was surrounded by mountains like that one.
This is what my photo safari tour guide in Ketchikan called a “postcard shot.”
Here is a shot of some fireweed overlooking a lake. I learned from a couple of tour guides that it’s called fireweed because it’s one of the first plants to grow back after a fire. It also makes great tea!
