The Office of Disability Support Services (DSS) provides programs and services designed to support and encourage the integration of students with disabilities into the mainstream of the university community.
Learning Skills Advisors (via DSS): CatholicU provides a student in transition with the support and skills that will lead to college success and beyond. In this model, all students who are newly registered with DSS may opt-in to meet individually with a Learning Skills Advisor who's main focus is to assist students in formulating better skills and habits around various Executive Functioning tasks (e.g. time management, organization, prioritization, self-efficacy, self-regulation, etc.).
Smart Start: an optional pre-orientation program offered by the Office of Disability Support Services (DSS), and scheduled before the larger New Student Orientation. It is designed for incoming first-year or new transfer students who have a documented condition or disability and have completed the registration process with DSS for academic accommodations. Up to two additional individuals (e.g. parents, guardians, family members) are also welcome to attend along with their student.
Time management is one of the largest adjustments for students transitioning from high school to college. The link above leads to Catholic University's (DSS) Planning and Time Management Resources page.
