Objectives:
To encourage students to develop the confidence that's essential to speak clearly, lucidly, and thoughtfully.
To reinstill the importance of expressing one’s own opinions.
To promote problem solving and innovative thinking, and helps students to build links between words and ideas that make concepts more meaningful.
To synthesize wide bodies of complex information, and to exercise creativity and implement different ways of knowing.
Report: In celebration of Women’s Day 2023, the Speech and Debate club conducted a debate on the topic Women Empowerment: Myth or Reality?. Students from all departments were encouraged to take part in the competition. The competition was judged by Mrs. M. Priyadarshini, Assistant Professor, Department of English and Dr. Sudha Srikanth, Placement Officer. Student participants were judged on their Organization and clarity of points, originality, effective rebuttal, and use of argument.

Outcome:
Students were inspired to exercise their opinions.
Students took part in healthy competition with excitement and were encouraged to improve on their oral communication skills and gain confidence in presenting to a large audience.
