On Sunday, 10.09.2022 BHT AUTO attended the Small Car Co Air Cooled Engines Car Show on Veterans Green in Westport, CT as invited guest judges.
The auto students worked in groups and then together to decide a winner for the BHT AUTO Best in Show category and trophy and did an excellent job collecting information, interviewing owners, consulting experts assigned to them, presenting their arguments and the coming up with a final choice for the winner and trophy.
Two BHT student representatives expressed themselves well in front of a large group of car enthusiasts as well as The Piston Foundation, Hagerty and the Small Car Company- our sponsor.
We met Westport Selectwoman Jen Tooker. She had a picture taken with our students and posted on her Westport site as well as asked for ways to support us as she works closely with Governor Lamont.
Bullard Havens Technical High School Automotive Technology Department Head, Roxanne, Amiot was a guest at this benefit Thursday night, August 25.
The newly founded Piston Foundation out of Greenwich will visit and partner with our BHT auto program to provide support and scholarship opportunities for our automotive students.
On Wednesday August 24, the Small Car Club arranged a visit for Roxanne Amiot to meet with Sean Curran of Curran Volkswagen Stratford to build a partnership for building auto techs!
It was a successful visit and will hopefully lead to education and employment for BHT auto students!
FCP Euro sponsored BHT AUTO student field trip to Lime Rock Park on Friday, July 15th for the 2022 Northeast Grand Prix to watch the practice runs, have a tour and lunch with team.
On May 7, The BHT Auto Shop attended the Hagerty Insurance Garage and the MPAC -Malcolm Pray Achievement Center in NY.
The trip was organized and sponsored by David Abelow of the Small Car Company Club, Hagerty Insurance and MPAC.
It also allowed students to see classic cars as well as learn about successes in the field through speakers and steps to their own success.
The students enjoyed the day and we welcome the partnership with these businesses.
Alihk Robinson a 12th grade Bullard-Havens automotive student has been hired by Garavel Subaru in Norwalk under Work Based Learning and the new Subaru U training program. Subaru-U is designed to create a unique partnership between Subaru of America, the retailer, and high performing ASE Education Foundation accredited secondary and post-secondary schools.
Bullard-Havens Automotive is only 1 of 3 ASE accredited CTECS schools in the state. By infusing Subaru’s Web-Based Training (WBT) into the existing curriculum, students have the ability to take most of the entry-level training that is required of all Subaru technicians. Students that are apprenticed at a Subaru retailer and participating instructors are also eligible for additional training through Subaru. Retailers have the ability to take an active role with their local partner schools in shaping the technicians of tomorrow. There is no cost to the student to participate in this program. In the pictures, he is shown with Service Manager Tony Cornelio, who along with owner Jeremy Garavel are glad to have Alihk aboard. Jeff LeClair representing Subaru-U has been instrumental in this partnership.
Garavel Subaru is also donating a vehicle for instruction to the Bullard-Havens automotive program to help build more students like Alihk!
Congratulations to Ms. Amiot and Katie Juarez in Automotive for being selected Tomorrow’s Technician student of the month.

Harbor Freight Tools School Prize Awarded for Teaching Excellence
Congratulations are in order for one of Bullard-Havens finest! Roxanne Amiot, Automotive Department head, has recently been announced as one the seven second-place winners for the Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Prize for Teaching Excellence.
693 instructors from around the country submitted applications to Harbor Freight in a variety of different skilled trades (including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, welding, auto repair and more). Harbor Freight’s purpose is to recognize teaching excellence in the skilled trades that enables students to learn deeply and be career-ready.
Mrs. Amiot, a graduate of Bullard-Havens Automotive program, won $20,000 for Bullard-Havens Automotive program. She stated, “I am a graduate of this program and it made all the difference in my life. I explored the different trades and even as a female was supported in my choice of auto — even though I never thought I could do it — and found out I loved it. This program gave me the opportunity to work at something I loved, and gave me the skills to be successful and earn a living at it. I came back to this school to share this and pass on this gift that was given to me.”
We here at Bullard-Havens are very proud of Mrs. Amiot and her accomplishments. A celebration is scheduled to occur to honor her achievements.
