The Regular season will end on July 19th
The top 16 reams based on record will Qualify. The first place team in each zone will automatically qualify. The winner of the stars and Stripes tournament, if not a zone champion will qualify and be seeded below the zone champions. The remaining spots will be filled by the teams with the next best records based on winning percentage to bring the total to 16 teams.
The "Host teams" will qualify. If either of the host teams is not in the top 16, they would displace the lowest ranked team(s) in the tournament.
The zone champions will be seeded 1 through 3 based on winning percentage and the Stars and Stripes winner will be seeded fifth, if not a zone champion. The teams will be placed in four pods based on seed as follows
Pod A 1 7 10 16
Pod B 4 6 11 13
Pod C 3 5 12 14
Pod D 2 8 9 15
The two highest seeded teams in each pod will be the host teams for the first round of pod play. The pods will play 3 games.
July 21st (2 games)
July 22nd (2 games) (one team eliminated)
July 23rd (1 game) (winner advances to the final)
NOTE:: Re-entry IS permitted during pod play.
The eight surviving teams will play a double elimination tournament to determine the state champion. Losses in the pod round WILL NOT carry over to this event. The tournament will be played from Saturday, July 26th through Wednesday July 30th with an "if necessary" game on Thursday, July 31st.
The tournament will be played at two sites. South Windsor and Middletown with the final game(s) at Palmer field in Middletown. The tournament will be played under National Tournament rules and will follow the National 8 team double elimination bracket format.
The teams advancing from the pods will be placed as follows for the first round.
A1 Vs D2
B1 Vs C2
C1 Vs B2
D1 Vs A2
The tournament will follow the National Regional Double Elimination bracket
