What is Writing Worksop?
Writing workshop is an instructional practice that guides students to become more capable and confident in their writing. Writing workshop classes are held two days per week and begin with a writing technique mini lesson or a quick-write.
Why does CTK use this model?
CTK equips students to become Christian leaders. A part of leadership is communication and learning to write allows for students to grow in their communication skills.
What do students write about?
Guided by CTK's middle school English instructor, students have the freedom to write any genre and topic. Past and current students have published nonfiction and fiction short stories, poetry (free verse, rhyming, blackout), graphic novels, and mythology pieces.
2023-2024 School Year Published Works
At the beginning of the school year, students in grades 7th and 8th were introduced to the concepts of mythology writing and the hero's journey. Mythology writing was broken down into three parts to be completed over the '23-'24 school year: The Call to Adventure, The Road of Trials, and The Return. Completed original mythologies will be published in the Kingsmen's Chronicles at the end of the school year.
