This is what your project should look like after it has been completed
Depending on availability: Index card, card stock, any type of thick paper or cardboard; Pencils, colored pencils, pens, any drawing utensils; Scissors; strong or rubber band optional - hole punch
If using cardboard or thicker paper skip to step three, steps 1 and 2 are to make a stronger base
Start by taking your Index card and folding it in half
Cut two identical circles and place them back to back
Use your pencil or another device to carefully poke a hole on either side of your circle
Prepare your string or rubber band by cutting them into two equal lengths of about 2 inches each
Attach your string or rubber band to either side of your circle using the holes you punched
Draw your first image on one side of your thaumatrope. Make sure to pick a pair of images that will combine smoothly. Like a bird in a cage, a flower on a stem, or a smile inside a face
Make sure to flip your project Vertically so that the images are oriented correctly.
