What is your major?
Psychology
What is your ultimate career goal and why?
The more I work with students the more fine-tuned my career goal gets. I started off wanting to be a forensic psychologist but as I’m going through school and working with kids that changed to teacher and now school counselor. Working with students has really opened my eyes to how many students need different resources that aren’t being provided or they don’t know where to get them and I feel that I can be most effective as a High School Guidance counselor.
What is your biggest achievement?
There are many challenges that people don’t warn you about after you graduate high school. It’s really easy to compare yourself to others and feel like you’re not achieving enough when you’re used to everyone being on the same level. My biggest achievement was learning to stop having such unreachable expectations for myself and allow myself to complete my goals in a timeline that was more comfortable and fit for me instead of comparing myself to everyone around me. Once I accomplished this all of my smaller goals started becoming attainable and will definitely lead me to even bigger achievements in the future.
What are you looking forward to this upcoming school year?
I’m looking forward to seeing my students again. If I had known the last time I saw any of them was going to be the last time I would've given them a proper goodbye. I'm excited to see what students are coming back and am eager to put my knowledge from the supplemental Covid training's into action. I’m looking forward to seeing how our interactions differ once I put these new methods to work.
