Meeting #5: Thursday, November 21, 11:00 Chair: Guest Student Speaker Molly Zhao Agenda: Molly will discuss her Summer Research experience, how she got involved in PIONEER, and what you could do to make your research opportunity if you are interested! Molly's professional presentation poster is hanging in the science wing: "The Diagnostic Potential of Visual Deficits in Parkinson's Disease - the impact of line orientation, facial emotion & recognition, and object recognition on individuals with PD." Molly shares with the group her researched proposal that could lead to more affordable and reliable diagnosis methods of Parkinson's Disease in the future.
In addition: James Tang provided direction and web-links for Science Club supported competitions. Anthony Buzzetta put out a call for interested members to form a committee and prepare for our two "STEM Night with the Cub Scouts" events. Refer to e-mailed information from both of these club officers.
Meeting #6: Thursday, December 5, 11:00 Chair: Eman Ali Agenda: The wonders of sodium bicarbonate are revealed! Witness a "fire snake," the result of the decomposition of sodium bicarbonate in the presence of sugar, observe a "lemon volcano," and identify the different needs for baking soda vs. baking powder in cooking.

Rutgers' Oncology Olympiad Competition:
About the Rutgers' Competition - http://cinj.org/Olympiad Rutgers Oncology Olympiad is an academic competition focusing on cancer diagnosis, treatment, symptoms, genetics, and healthcare specialists. The event is comprised of two rounds: an online individual qualifying test and a team tournament. Individual qualifying tests will occur online in January 2020. The online qualifying test will be available for 90 minutes from the time the registered students open the test on testing date chosen.
The registration fee of $(refer to website) is paid for by the interested student.
CONGRATULATIONS goes to Eva Abraham!! She has successfully qualified to participate in the Olympiad team event on March 28, 2020. This academic competition, open to high school students across the country, focused on cancer diagnosis, treatment, symptoms, genetics, and healthcare specialists. Eva is an inspiration to Allied students striving to be the next generation of medical leaders. Well Done!!
