By Decision of the Council of Ministers No. 655/1973 and Order no. 64 / 1.09.1973 of the Ministry of the Construction Industry of Machine Tools and Electrotechnics, the Suceava
Vocational School is established, which will function as a School Group together with the Industrial High School for Machine Constructions Suceava under the name of Industrial
School Construction Machine Group no. 1- Suceava.
During its evolution, the school changes its structure and name several times, depending on the socio - economic development of the area, functioning either as a school group or as an industrial high school.
The results obtained by the teachers with the students of the school during the whole existence of the school require the taking of the steps for obtaining the status of Technical College. Thus, starting with September 1, 2006, the school is called the Technical College "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" Suceava.
"Alexandru Ioan Cuza" Technical College is the only high school located in Burdujeni neighborhood, peripheral district of Suceava and offers educational services for young people and adults in Suceava area and Suceava county, mainly for high school graduates from neighborhood schools, but also for those from nearby villages.

Therefore, most students who are admitted to the ninth grade have technical subjects as their first focus. Also, their immediate goal is to get a job after graduation. Following the tests,
it was concluded that the intelligence level of these students is medium and above average, but due to financial impediments they cannot afford additional transportation or accommodation expenses and opt for our institution located near their home. Therefore, our students face various problems: poor material situations, parents working abroad, poor results in the national assessment due to poor previous training.
The teachers in our school take over these typologies of students and make efforts to orient them towards performance and the formation of professional skills. The teaching staff
consists of 76 teachers, of which:
• Grade I - 43 teachers
• Second grade teachers -12
• Definitive teachers -13
• Beginner teachers - 4
• Doctoral professors - 4
The auxiliary teaching staff (11) and non-teaching staff (21) ensure the normal development of the teaching activity.
The SCHOOL MISSION is to provide quality-based educational services, performance, the promotion of European values, equal opportunities for all students and to develop their
ability to adapt and orient in a continuously changing society.
Also:
- it is our duty to support each student to know and develop their potential and skills according to both personal interests and motivations, as well as the requirements of the community and society in general.
- we respect every student, no matter how modest the school results, identifying everyone's skills in order to capitalize on them.
- we ensure equal opportunities in learning, treating students according to how they might become.
- equal opportunities in society is promoted by supporting pupils to avoid school failure and their integration in society.
- permanently seek collaboration with members of students' families
- we use active-participatory methods (inter-active learning, stimulation of critical thinking and stimulating teamwork) that will motivate and stimulate students during the educational process.
- we educate students to become good citizens in the European context.
Through the activity of our very well trained staff we have a rich experience in managing educational projects in school, but also at the local, national and European levels.
College Al. I. Cuza, Suceava is the beneficiary of three Erasmus plus projects that helped gain experience and motivated us to apply for this grant: can be used to develop the project.
- a KA1 Erasmus+ project on the topic of school dropout was implemented in school during 2018- 2020 in which 20 teachers participated in trainings to combat absenteeism through innovative teaching methods and strategies.
- between 2016- 2018 another KA1 Erasmus+ project on adult education has allowed us to accumulate the concrete experience in implementing and using e-learning platforms.
- the Erasmus plus Partnership on Dangers and Opportunities of the Internet, we are currently implementing, represents another positive experience that would allows us to buils on and transfer the knowledge gained on to this new project as well.
On a national level we are part of The Secondary Education Project (ROSE)coordinated by the Ministry of Education in Romania, which aims to help reduce drop-out in secondary and tertiary education and increase the pass rate for the baccalaureate exam through supplimentary coursesfor key school subjects and also promote inclusion through extracurricular
activities.
We carry on activities within the Eco School project and many other extracurricular and non formal activities at the county level in collaboration with CJRAE and local NGOs on diverse topics such as: preventing drug consumption and violence, healthy lifestyles, equity and equality etc.
Within the institution we also count on the collaboration of our school psychologist who, together with form teachers, is involved in a large variety of activities which promote personal development among students. We will use this experience and knowledge to prepare the first meeting of the project which deals with learning about the importance of creativity in everyday life.
The psychologist in school elaborates and carries on numerous surveys for the students in school, the results of which constitute for us valuable information when we outline our aims and elaborate the SWOT analysis.
As the profile of our school hasn' t change we keep welcoming students coming from disadvantaged backgrounds, facing social, economical, geografical obstacles, who are often at risk of dropping out school.
The SWOT analysis in our institution shows that early school leaving is caused by poor school results, a large number of absences and violent behavior. The school psychologist pointed out in her report that students manifesting this behavior face problems such as depression and anxiety. This data prompted us to develop a questionnaire to find out if our students are aware that depression and anxiety influence the decision of dropping out of school and if they are equipped with the necessary knowledge in order to prevent this from happening by themselves. The questionnaire held on the high school website shows that a large number of students experienced stress in the last month and faced learning difficulties due to stress, health problems boredom or because of bad relationships. Only a small number of students are capable of developing a plan in order to improve school results, their health or the relationships with others. They are not aware of the fact that physical exercise and healthy eating help release stress and increase learning. For example, in order to relax they prefer social media to a walk in the forest.
Analyzing the data, the following needs emerged at our college level:
-directing students in order to raise awareness, identify, analyze and combat school dropout by learning about wellbeing and depression
-teach students about the influence that health and positive relationships with oneself and the others have on academic success;
-implementing strategies to promote creativity, wellbeing and a friendly environment in school;
-training teachers on using new, creative teaching;
-learning strategies to match the individual learning styles, skills and motivation for each pupil.
