How can Google Classroom benefit your institution?

The vast majority of students nowadays have access to the internet and new technology that was never available a couple of years ago. Google Classroom does not cost a dime for its usage and allows everyone to join and be a part of such experiences. Google Drive is well-recognized by numerous schools and organizations that it acquires a more widespread view for its helpfulness.

A great benefit of using Google Classroom is the integration with other Google tools. These tools may include Google Docs, Forms, Slides, and Gmail. It would allow a significant amount of work to get accomplished since an individual would not need to set up new accounts for login to finish the required work. The security with Google Classroom is very reliable in terms of students being incapable of working outside their unique login, and unknown strangers may not access the assignments or student records.

Disadvantages of Google Classroom for your institution?

A disadvantage someone might encounter would be that every user needs their own Google account. An account that solely focuses on schoolwork itself while not having a kind of connection to any personal accounts. The same goes for teachers in following the same procedures as those expected in the students. Another disadvantage with Google Classroom would be that it is not a video solution. One may use Google Hangouts for any kind of video conferencing, but usually, teachers never use that function as a primary resort. This leads to finding an alternative platform for video conferencing with those in the class.

An issue very severe would be the rejection of accepting the terms and conditions as stated when first creating a Google account. Parents have the power to opt-out their child from creating a student account if they feel any discomfort or experiences about granting their child with such power of an account. Without agreeing to the terms and conditions, the student will get kept out of Google Classroom without any exceptions. This is where meetings would need to get hosted between the school and the parents. To exchange perspective and reasonable knowledge and facts to understand why Google Classroom would be a beneficial platform for them to join and contribute and learn.

How does Google Classroom meet the demands of different educational institutions?

Media Richness Theory, which is also known as information richness theory, created by Daft and Lengel, is the ability for information to change understanding within a time interval. We have this observation on the different phases in the development of multiple media in education, as it continues to evolve every single day. If we take the time to reflect, we started with speaking and describing concept learning which later led to the written textual communication and to the present time that revolves around video and computing. All of these means of communication have a contribution in terms of media richness theory since multiple interpretative abilities are required to use to process the information. Another form of defining richness of media is the usage of the symbol systems, which allows communication through the medium. From an early point in time, a classroom setting relied on pictures and wheel rolling projectors to cast images on the wall. A couple of years later, televisions along with audiobooks were developed to give a more visual and hearing perspective in the learning process. This now takes us to the current standing of the usage of computers, which allows us, users, to get our tasks done from either video, text, or usage of audio under the key factor of making everything possible as the internet. Everything connects, which brings us all together for what we stand for here at Learning Technologies.
