Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Focus Area
The Single Subject in Mathematics and Science Credential Program prepares students to teach science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in grades 6–12, particularly in area public schools.
The program is a full-time one-year cohort-based program. Candidates are required to enroll in CSUMB's credential program and begin a full load of classes in the summer. During the fall and spring semesters, candidates will spend five days a week conducting fieldwork and applying theoretical aspects of their coursework to their field placements.
Throughout the program, you’ll be paired with an excellent mentor teacher to learn the necessary pedagogical skills to effectively teach STEM to adolescents, develop proper attitudes towards teaching, and become a self-confident educator.
