I took this photo in Social Sciences 2 on the UC Santa Cruz campus.
Since 2004, I have worked with students to investigate a variety of research questions. My students and I are collaborators and we work together to choose a research question and a methodology. After we collect the data, we work together to analyze the data. The final stage of dissemination occurs when students write up the project for their capstone papers and/or for publication in a peer-reviewed journal. In addition, we have presented many of the projects at regional conferences such as Western Psychological Association (WPA).
Meg Dearie, Rodi Edil, RC Moctezuma, and I presented a poster at WPA on our project examining college students' perception of their skills and how that is related to students' thoughts about learning outcomes.
Spring Showcase for Undergraduate Research Week 2022.
This is our lab team for a moment without masks. Everyone presented a poster at the Showcase on their current project (see below).
Cam Battersby (BA PSY 2020) presented our poster at Western Psychological Association in April 2019. Cam is now a faculty research assistant at the University of Oregon. We wrote an article on that study on students' thoughts about what they should focus on now (in college) for success after college. The article appeared in Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in Psychology in 2021. Here's a little synopsis on Kudos.
