The CSU Monterey Bay Teacher Residency is an innovative teacher preparation program and partnership between CSU Monterey Bay and districts in Monterey.
The mission of CSU Monterey Bay's Teacher Residency is to promote student achievement through the preparation, support, and retention of exceptional teachers who reflect the rich diversity in the student population of the Monterey region and who are committed to teaching in the districts' public schools.
Whether you’re an undergraduate student preparing to get your post baccalaureate degree in education or a professional changing careers, we encourage you to apply to become a CSUMB Teacher Resident with one of our residency partners.

Program Features
$30,000 in scholarship funds available to cover tuition and living expenses while you complete your co-teaching residency alongside an expert mentor teacher at one of our partner schools
Residents will earn their preliminary credential at the end of year 1, allowing them to begin teaching in their own classrooms in year 2 as they complete MAE coursework

Monterey County Office of Education's Residency Program
Program Features
A partnership between the Monterey County Office of Education (MCOE), CSUMB, and school districts in Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito counties. Includes $44,000 in scholarship funding.
Seeks to significantly increase the number of K–12 teachers who are well-prepared to fill positions in:
Special Education
Science & Math (STEM, 6–12)
Elementary Education with Bilingual Authorization
Program Features
Designed for Middle and Secondary school resident candidates interested in:
Special Education
Science
Mathematics
Includes $40,000 in scholarship funding.
Candidates receive consistent and ongoing feedback from university clinical coaches, their master teacher, and school site administrators.
Successful residents are placed in SUHSD classrooms based on district hiring needs.
