Welcome to the Greek Network of Gender Equality and Antidiscrimination Committees in Research Centers and Independent Research Institutes (GEARnet) website! The Network was setup in April 2022 after an initiative by FORTH's Committee that was immediately embraced by all Research Centers and Institutes in the country. Today, it counts 15 member-organisations, with more than 10.000 members of staff in total. The Network is closely interacting with the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation, the Greek Innovation Lab for Women, as well as the corresponding network of Greek Universities and the Hellenic Association of University Women (ELEGYP), representatives of which take frequently part in the Network's monthly general assemblies, as observers. The Committees are a core mechanism for transforming the Greek research centers/institutes so that they contribute to diversity, equity, and inclusivity (D.E.I.) in the Greek research ecosystem. The main aim of their networking is the exchange of information and best practices in all topics that pertain to their duties as defined by Greek law, as well as the foundation of a common understanding of the issues at stake and an active support framework. Furthermore, the Network facilitates cooperation among Committees, the organisation of common events and informative activities, and a coordinated contribution to national policy-making on D.E.I in research. The network is coordinated by the Head (or vice-head) of one of its member Committees for two years. The first network head was Dr Maria Klapa (FORTH, 2022-2024), followed by Dr Katerina Pastra (Athena R.C.) for the period 2024-2026.
