In this assignment, I was granted the challenge of examining the special population of sexual assault patients in the emergency department specifically. This assignment met the learning objective of professional accountability as I actively participated in determining what evidence-based risk assessments exist, the importance of the risk assessments, how to advocate ethically and legally for this patient population, how to advocate for social justice and the importance of this kind of advocacy, and how the implementation of these ideas may lead to quality improvement in healthcare. Each of these focuses meet the definition of professional accountability which encompasses equal and fair treatment, ethical standards, legal standards, and the personal beliefs of the patient themself.

Through my completion of this assignment, I focused on access to healthcare for those who have a mental health disorder. My completion of this assignment allowed me to achieve this program outcome because I focused on how this populations background and socioeconomic status negatively impact their ability to access mental health care. Additionally, I examined associated financial factors, safety concerns, and the role of nursing professionals in the future of mental health care availability.
Holistic and Patient-Centered Care: Placing the focus of care on the patient through evidence based practice, strong clinical judgement, personal beliefs and values throughout the care planning process including planning, implementation, and evaluating of outcomes to promote autonomy and individualized care to meet each patients physical, emotional, and mental needs.
NUR 419 - Aging, Chronicity, and Palliative Care
Palliative Care Assessment and Care Planning
In this assignment, I was able to differentiate between hospice and palliative care and based on a given case study, was able to determine if the patient was a better candiadate for hospice or palliative care. This assignment allowed me to meet this outcome because I was able to recognize how the palliative care nurse would meet the requirements of the nurse's role which includes providing presence, communication skills, care coordination, and evidence based practice. I was also able to identify and explain the four pillars associated with the Quality-of-Life Model and identify what interventions I would include to ensure that the four pillars in the Quality-of-Life Model are being met. Lastly, this assignment allowed me to examine rituals, customs, and ethical considerations around the dying process which are incredibly important in meeting the patient's emotional and mental needs. This assignment effectively included the planning, implementation, and evaluation of outcomes for a patient.
Leadership: The development of confidence in practice and promoting the growth of others to benefit the care of individuals through education and knowledge, empathy, and awareness around safe and quality care as well as financial burdens as a result of receiving care.

This essay allowed me to expand my knowledge around the significance of violence in healthcare and determine how to implement interventions to raise awareness for this topic and ultimately increase safety for nursing professionals. I met this outcome through the completion of this assignment because by expanding my own knowledge, I am able to increase awareness regarding violence towards nurses currently.
Technology and Informatics: The awareness and knowledge around updated nursing regulations, standards, and communication practices to provide increased quality of care with a thorough focus on safety and efficiency.

In this assignment, I was able to compare three hospitals using the Medicare comparison tool to determine which hospital would likely be the best fit for the given patient scenario based on the data given by this tool. I was able to achieve this program outcome through the completion of this assignment because I was able to observe how nursing standards, regulations, and communication practices can contribute to patient satisfaction and an overall increase in quality of patient care.
Optimizing Healthcare Outcomes: Providing a high standard of care through collaborating effectively with fellow healthcare providers, altering communication methods as necessary, and continuously coordinating care to meet the patients needs based on their goals and what must be achieved to meet the those goals.

In this case study, I had the opportunity to prioritize care, collect assessment data, calculate the appropriate fluid resuscitation measures based on total body surface area burned and weight in kg, communicate with family members, recognizing changes in condition, and delegation within the interdisciplinary care team. Each of these skills contributed to my ability to achieve this program outcome as I continuously assessed the patient and coordinated care as needed, adjusted communication with the patient and the family as needed using a therapeutic approach, and collaborated effectively with CNA's and other healthcare providers.
Health Promotion and Illness Prevention: Contributing to the community through education, communication, and collaboration with community members to encourage the population to seek and identify given benefits that advance long-term health or intercept illness and injury with effective interventions put in place to measure the effectiveness of said interventions.

The development of this infographic contributed to my achievement of this learning outcome as I expanded my own knowledge around the importance of sharing issues with a trustworthy adult during childhood. Specifically, this assignment provided education regarding who trusted adults are, why sharing issues are important, what activities are considered harmful, and resources to learn more about speaking with a trustworthy adult. This assignment recognizes the need to collaborate with school employees as children spend the majority of time in schools and education is provided to others about this topic.
Baccalaureate Generalist: As a student and provider, receptively accepting and seeking knowledge through education that promotes the understanding of nursing focused knowledge and the provision of high quality care which includes compassion, competence, and creativity within the care provided to various populations within healthcare.
