Although our program schedule varies a bit from day to day, a typical day at afterschool STEAMS might look like this...
First 15 minutes: Attendance and light snack (if available) - students will be dismissed from their classroom and gather for the start of program. STEAMS typically takes place in a dedicated classroom, school library or cafeteria.
30 - 40 minutes: Homework Help - Classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and school staff will help students complete their homework before they get home. NOTE* Although our staff are willing to help students finish their work, we do not always know what homework is sent home for each students. Please make sure your child is asking for help when needed and using their time wisely.
45 - 50 minutes: STEM activity - Our STEM activities are teacher led and hands-on. We try to incorporate as much fun learning as possible to engage students and pique their curiosity. Students might work in small or large groups, or be challenged with some individual learning.
30 minutes: Physical Activity - A structured physical activity to get students moving around, working in teams and increasing their physical fitness. Outdoor and gym time is usually structured, but there are opportunities for free play as well!
20 minutes: Dinner and dismissal.
