Snips and PIcs

December Snips and Pics:

We read many versions of Gingerbread Man, or Girl, books! It was fun to compare how some were similar and some were different.

One of our story extensions was to have each child create their own gingerbread cookie from paper.

In math we created a graph about what part of a cookie everyone took their first bite of. It was fun to see their reaction when I told them they could only take one bite, then put it down! After we made our graph, we of course had a fun snack!

Our SNEAKY gingerbread man who escaped from the oven! Luckily, we were able to catch him by hanging posters and making a trap.

Doesn't our Gingerbread Man trap look like a real Gingerbread House?! It sure tricked our run away cookie. That is after he made a huge mess in our room...

In math we learned how to use rectangles and squares to create a Santa face.

November Snips and Pics:

We had so much fun performing for our parents and family for the first time! We truly have SO much to be thankful for. I hope you all have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Pilgrim art! We had a lot of fun acting out the Mayflower voyage. They class was shocked to hear that each child could only bring one toy and they were on the ocean for 66 days. We talked about the meager crackers they had on board, and the hard start they had once in America. Learning about how much the Pilgrims had to be thankful for at the first Thanksgiving helped the class make some meaningful connections to what they are thankful for in their own lives.

An American Indian scene: each child created a "bear skin" and painted it using cranberries to create the teepee, then traced their foot to make an Indian. I love hearing what they would say if they were an Indian. I love learning about this resourceful and wise culture.

October Snips and Pics:

We have been practicing our pattern making skills to help decorate our classroom! This week we are making a source of light to add - lanterns!

Here we labeled a pumpkin and used many adjectives, or "describing words" as we call them in Kindergarten.

In science we are reviewing the life cycle of the pumpkin.

The science table is one of the class' favorite social stations! I can already tell we have many great scientists among us!

Stop by sometime for some great pumpkin artwork in the hall!
