You’ll need a bank account soon after arriving. Most students use Chunghwa Post Office, which offers a Postal VISA debit card. Their app is fully in English.
To open an account, you should prepare:
Get the application form from the post office
Original and one copy of Passport and ARC IC Card (e-ARC should be printed out)
Student Status Certificate
Stamp (Name Seal)
This is a small item used as a legal signature substitute for documents, especially at banks.
When opening a bank account (especially at the Post Office, Chunghwa Post), many banks in Taiwan require a name stamp to:
Authorize account setup
Sign withdrawal forms
Approve official documents
***For international students, this is often used instead of a handwritten signature.
