Dear Students & Families,
Welcome to the Middle School Summer Work website! Summer is a wonderful time to relax, recharge, and enjoy new experiences. To help our students keep the reading and math skills they’ve worked so hard to master, we’ve created these summer assignments. Research shows that students can lose more than two months of reading and math skills over the summer, so these activities are designed to keep those skills sharp and ready for the next school year.
For new students, this is a fantastic opportunity to get a glimpse of what your classmates learned last year and to start the new school year with confidence. Our summer assignments are not just about academic preparation; they're about fostering a sense of belonging and familiarity. They're also a way to stay on track and be prepared for a great start in the fall.
In math, students will review important concepts during the first weeks of school and be assessed on this material to ensure everyone is ready to move forward successfully. In English, students will be given a writing diagnostic to give teachers an idea of their writing level.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to frederickm@cshct.org.
Let’s make this summer a season of growth and discovery and most of all fun!

IXL PRACTICE INFORMATION
(LANGUAGE ARTS & MATH)
Students with an existing IXL account should continue using the same login credentials from the school year. For new students, login information has been sent via email.
Returning students have skill plans pre-assigned by their teachers. In addition, all students have access to the IXL Summer Boost Skill Plans in both Math and ELA. These plans focus on foundational and high-priority skills from the previous school year to ensure readiness for the year ahead. These plans can be found under the Learning Tab and then select skills plans on the right.
Important: Students should select the Summer Boost plan for the grade they are entering in the fall.
