Accessibility Statement

Charter School of the Dunes is committed to ensuring that our educational materials and websites are accessible, equitable, and usable to everyone. Accessibility is a core component of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and it is referenced throughout the UDL Guidelines.


We strive to follow best practices based on federal requirements outlined in Section 508—the "Electronic and Information Technology Accessibility Standards," authorized by the Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board—as well as recommendations of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).


Charter School of the Dunes strives to ensure that its services, educational materials, information, and methods are accessible to ALL students. Charter School of the Dunes invests a significant resources to help ensure that it’s curricular materials, strategies, and websites are accessible for all students and families, with the strong underlying belief that every person has the right to pursue a free and appropriate public education with as much independence, dignity, equity, comfort and equivalent ease of use as possible.

Charter School of the Dunes continues its efforts to maintain and improve the accessibility of all services in the belief that it is our collective moral obligation to allow seamless, accessible and unhindered use by all people. Despite our efforts, some content may not have yet been fully adapted to the strictest accessibility standards. This may be a result of not having found or identified the most appropriate solution, yet.

In accordance with SEA 217: Dyslexia Law, as of February 2019:

  • Charter School of the Dunesd uses Orton Gillingham to intervene for students that may have Dyslexia.

  • 72 students have received services that cover dyslexia intervention

  • 0 students have been flagged for dyslexia characteristics
