Mrs. Gedeon
My name is Grace Gedeon and I will be teaching the second and third grade MAC class. I am excited to be teaching your children this school year. I have been teaching at St. David School for 32 years. I have taught second grade for more than 17 years and this is my sixth year teaching a MAC class.
My history with St. David started with my son and daughter attending St. David School. My son graduated in 2000 and my daughter in 2003.

Ms. Yeager has two children currently attending St. David School. She is originally from Idaho and loves living in El Cerrito. She earned her BA in Business Management from Boston College.

Enrichment programs:
Raz Kids, typing.com, Brainpop, and Mathletics are programs used for enrichment.
The students can access these programs through the Clever app. Each students will have a badge taped to their homework folder, to give them access to Clever at home.

4- Student exceeds grade level mastery
3- Student demonstrates mastery of grade level standards
2- Student is beginning to progress toward mastery of grade level standards
1- Student does not yet demonstrate grade level understanding with support
Homework
Monday through Thursday there will be 20-30 minutes of homework.
Please go over your child’s homework on a nightly basis and sign each page to insure its completion.
Homework schedule for the week:
Monday: spelling sentences, math worksheet
Tuesday: spelling alphabetical order, math worksheet
Wednesday: Reading Comprehension, math worksheet
Thursday: spelling practice, math worksheet
Friday: no homework
Spelling:
On Friday your child will come home with a spelling list, Monday's homework is to use their spelling words in sentences. Tuesday homework is writing their spelling words in alphabetical order. Thursday's homework is to practice the spelling words. Friday morning we will have a spelling test.
Rules for sentences:
All sentences need to complete thoughts, starts with a capitol letter and ends with a punctuation mark.
All sentences need to be longer than four words.
The sentences needs to be neatly done on binder paper.
Friday Folder
These folders will be sent home every Friday and contain your child’s completed work for the week. Please take time to review and discuss the work with your child. Then date and sign the enclosed form and have your child return the empty folder by Monday of the following week. This system is designed to keep you informed about your child’s progress.
Attendance
Your child should arrive at school by 7:50 a.m. Morning assembly starts at 8:00am. Your child will be marked tardy if they are late. If you need to pick your child up for an appointment or some other reason, you must go to the office and tell the secretary that you want to take your child out of the school. Also, email me to let me know that your child is leaving early.
If your child is absent please email or call the school office.
Please make sure your child completes all the work they have missed. It’s important that your child completes any work that they missed to ensure that they don’t fall behind.
Lunch/Snacks
Please send healthy snacks and lunches with your child. No sodas!! Make sure on minimum days they have a snack and on regular days they have a snack in addition to a balanced lunch.
Your child needs to bring water bottles to school.
Behavior Policy
Classroom rules:
1-Follow directions the first time given.
2-Raise your hand for permission to speak or leave your desk.
3-Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
4-Have all needed materials for class.
5-Be in complete uniform.
6-Be in your seat with your desk prepared to begin the day.
Playground rules:
1-No disrespect toward the yard supervisor.
2-No disruptive behavior.
3-No chase, tag, or tackling.
4-No fighting.
5-No inappropriate language or gestures.
Consequences:
1-Yellow card-warning
2-Red card, 15 minutes detention, during recess, and parents notified by email.
