All Are Welcome at Student Congress Meetings!
Attendance at Student Congress Meetings are mandatory for class officers. The following is taken from the Class Officer Policies and Procedures:
Each officer is allowed two (2) unexcused absences per year. After two unexcused absences, you are put on attendance probation. Missing more than two (2) regularly scheduled meetings puts you at risk for dismissal from your officer position due to lack of involvement in Student Congress/ Class affairs. Members missing the next meeting, after having been placed on attendance probation, will have their case brought before the Student Congress Advisor/Class Sponsor and the Vice Principal in charge of Activities for possible dismissal.
Students who are involved in a school sponsored activity, absent all day due to illness or family emergency, and who are excused according to the school’s attendance policy will have no attendance action taken against them. You are also excused from a meeting if you are attending a school sponsored athletic or co-curricular activity if you have had it pre-approved with the Student Congress Executive Board and/or advisor. You must submit a Tardy/Absence Information Sheet in advance to be considered excused. It is the member’s responsibility to read the minutes of the missed meeting and to be certain they are aware of all scheduled activities, announced policies, and their obligations.
Student Congress members are encouraged to carefully read the published Student Congress minutes for each meeting to be certain attendance has been correctly posted. If there is an issue that needs clarification, it should be brought to the attention of the Student Congress Secretary immediately. Any changes requested after one (1) week will not be made.
