What are we doing:
Continuing to lead in providing the most up to date digital technology tools in our district:
Providing one to one devices technology access for all 4K-12 students.
Rotation for updating devices throughout the district to ensure students and staff have the most up to date devices.
Providing computers in the library are available to ensure all students have access to a physical computer with printing capabilities.
Analytics are used to improve the stability of the infrastructure.
24/7 monitoring with alerts sent directly to IT staff and administration.
Content filtering for all devices on and off school grounds.
Additional personnel for the IT department.
The library looks at many factors when curating resources for the library to ensure a diverse collection of both physical and digital resources. Teacher and student requests as well as curriculum needs drive the focus of our content. Quality resources are purchased with a view of the longevity. Our library receives money through Common School Funds. The budget averages $47,000 annually.
Here is a simple breakdown of how the budget is allocated:
55 % of the budget is spent on printed books and professional materials that can be checked out by students, staff, and community members.
40% is spent on databases to provide students and staff 24/7 access to information whether at school or at home.
3% of the budget is spent on library hosting and inventory software.
> 2 % of the budget is spent on items that support library curriculum, whether digital or hardcopy.
Cultivates partnerships within the school and local community to promote engagement and a lifelong learning process.
Goal: By the Spring of 2028 the district librarian will have created communication and partnership with the public library in order to support each other in reading incentives, patron accessibility, and offer more opportunities to the patrons of the community.
Teaches and promotes student data privacy through instruction and role as an educational leader. The librarian helps develop best practices, professional development, and policies which not only meet legal standards but ensure student and family choice in privacy decision- making.
What we are doing:
Working closely with the IT department to ensure student data and privacy are monitored.
Continuing Digital Citizenship instruction so students of our district know the difference between personal and private information and how to secure their information online.
Reinforcing the importance of being a smart digital citizen throughout the school year to students and staff by providing examples and reminders.
Monitoring and updating, as needed, all district policies that focus on district data and privacy.
Participates in setting the district’s vision and strategic plan for digital learning and fosters a culture of collaboration and innovation to empower teachers and learners.
Goal: The district library will have developed and provided a video tutorial library that can be access by staff and students to learn digital applications and digtial learning strategies.
Future ready spaces are designed to empower learners and create active learning, not demand compliance or passive experiences. Libraries provide flexible spaces that promote inquiry, creativity, collaboration and community.
What we are doing:
Ensuring an accessible and welcoming atmosphere with staff that are approachable and helpful.
Providing more comfortable and adjustable furniture.
Designing spaces for students to explore, design, and create, rather than just consume information passively.
Creating a schedule that allows staff and students that promotes usage of the facility at all times.
Encourages and facilitates students to become increasingly self-directed as they create digital products of their learning that engage them in critical thinking, collaboration and authentic, real-world problem solving.
