Join Talley and Little Shop of Stories in reading the Wild Robot as part of the 2024 We Read Together program. In the fall, author Peter Brown will visit Decatur to celebrate We Read Together and the release of the Wild Robot movie!Â
Students who do not read over the summer lose about three months of reading growth! That means that if you do not read during all of your summer breaks, you could lose two years of reading growth by the end of elementary school! Kids who read at least six books over the summer will maintain or improve their reading progress!
Here’s the good news… It doesn’t matter what you read over the summer, as long as you are reading something!
Do you love comics? READ THEM!
Do you love magazines? READ THEM!
Do you love gaming manuals? READ THEM!
Do you love cooking or crafting? READ SOME HOW-TO BOOKS!
Do you love the newspaper? READ IT!
Fiction? Non-fiction? Graphic novels? JUST KEEP READING!
Love listening to stories? THAT COUNTS TOO! Get some audiobooks from the public library or ask your parents to read to you. Reading aloud to a little brother, sister, cousin, or pet counts!
