A Person Worth Knowing

A Person Worth Knowing

By Dawn Leas

A dental hygienist who reads poetry in German and Spanish. A woman who vacuums her way out of the house as she leaves her husband. A garbage man on the back of a truck. These are just a few people you’ll meet on the pages of A Person Worth Knowing.

The collection is about listening to and imagining the back stories of everyday people in a passing hello, a conversation between friends, a brief glimpse into a stranger’s life. Individually and collectively, the poems speak to slowing down and paying attention because it’s in the moments of planned and unplanned encounters where we learn what makes a person strong, resilient, and worth knowing.
