Scholarships for 9th, 10th, and 11th Graders:
DGN-Friends of Fine Arts Summer Study Grants - This program supports students looking to pursue summer study opportunities in the Fine Arts (Music, Theatre, and Visual Art). Grant awards are based on completed applications; award amounts vary based on the expense of the program the student is applying to pursue. If a member of your family is planning to attend a summer arts program this year, make sure you apply for assistance! Applications are due April 16, 2025.
Downers Grove Music Club Rising Stars Scholarship - This program is only open to 9th, 10th, and 11th Grade Music students involved in their school’s Band, Orchestra, or Choir program. These scholarships are designed to recognize and reward outstanding achievement in music prior to a student’s senior year. Each Rising Stars Scholarship is $500. Recipients must perform the following year at the DGMC’s Rising Stars Program, held in April. Applications are due March 15, 2025.
Scholarships for Seniors Only:
DGN-Friends of Fine Arts Senior Scholarships - This program provides scholarships to seniors planning to stay connected with the Fine Arts in college (Music, Theatre, or Visual Art). To be eligible, a current DGN senior student must be enrolled in a Fine Arts course and have completed 6 semesters of Fine Arts courses upon graduation from Downers Grove North High School.
At least one scholarship will be awarded to a senior attending a college in the fall where they will be pursuing a degree in the Fine Arts.
At least one scholarship will be awarded to a senior pursuing an area of study outside of the Fine Arts, but continuing Fine Arts involvement during their freshman year of college.
One student who will be majoring in Arts Education will be awarded the Brayer Teague Scholarship for Arts Education.
Applications are due March 16, 2025 and are evaluated through a blind-screening process.
Downers Grove Music Club College Music Award - This program is only open to Music seniors. The Downers Grove Music Club will present a $1,000 College Music Award to at least one student enrolled in Band, Choir or Orchestra in District 99. The goal of these awards is tso recognize and reward students who have been committed to their musical pursuits in high school and have achieved a high level of accomplishment. Applications are due March 15, 2025.
Rotary Club of Downers Grove - Charles Dickerman Music Scholarship - This program is only open to Music seniors, and includes a $6,000 “Grand Award” in addition to as many as seven $2,000 cash awards. The recipient(s) must be a senior music student living within the District 99 attendance area. This scholarship commemorates Charles Dickerman, a founding member of the Rotary Club of Downers Grove. Dickerman held degrees in both physics and music, and while his “day job” was working as a nuclear physicist at Argonne National Laboratory, he stayed involved in music and was an avid bagpiper throughout his life! Applications are due March 18, 2025.
