Is marching band required for band students at DGN?
Yes - all DGN Band students are required to be in the marching band as a required part of the band curriculum. We firmly believe that the camaraderie, the performances, and the experiences that come with marching band are a critical part of being "in band" at DGN.
What if my student is involved in a Fall Sport or Activity?
We have many students every year who are able to participlate in marching band and their fall sport or activity. The marching band rehearses after athletic practices have finished twice a week, making the schedule very feasible for all students. However, if a student believes their fall sport schedule is too demanding, they may opt to be a Spirit Band member.
Spirit Band is an option only available to students part of a Fall Sport or Activity. These students are still a part of performances at Friday Home Games, but they do not learn or perform during halftime. These students march and play during Pre-Game, play and cheer in the stands during the game, and play in the post-game performance. These students have an adjusted rehearsal schedule during the season, which makes it easier to balance marching band and their fall sport or activity.
