DGS Students & Parents/Guardians: We have added a step in the course selection process that will provide opportunities for more conversations between students and parents/guardians about selecting courses. We hope that this revised process will result in enhanced academic and post-secondary plans after high school.
Step One
Log into your Home Access Center (HAC) account. If you need assistance logging in to HAC, click here.
Click on "Classes"
Click on the "Requests" tab
Step Two
Review the courses you have been recommended for by your teachers. In most cases, you may have discussed this recommendation with your current teacher.
If you would like to request a change in the course recommendation listed, you will be able to discuss this with your counselor during your scheduled in-person appointment during the months of either December or January. You can also email your counselor ahead of time to let them know that this is something you would like to discuss further.
Step Three
You will have scheduled in-person appointments with your DGS school counselors in either December or January to discuss your overall course load, choices, and how they may impact your current academic plan, post high school plan, or career pathway. If you have additional questions, you can email them directly here. Click here to view counselor contact information.
Step Four
After you have reviewed your course recommendations and reviewed your course load, review the following questions below:
Do I have at least six courses selected for each semester? (At this point, you are not able to force semester electives into a given semester).
The maximum number for a school year is 7.0 unless you have chosen an Early Bird class (PE, Jazz Band, or Cons. Ed. Hybrid). Check to make sure you are not enrolled in too many courses. Talk to your counselor during your in-person meeting in January if revisions need to be made to locked courses.
Does my list of requested courses support my academic plan?
Does my list of requested courses support my post high school plan?
Does my plan support a career path I am interested in?
