Normative Theory & Artificial Intelligence
Research Group
Research Group
We are a group of researchers and students based at the University of Cambridge interested in the range the amazing work being done on Normative Theory and AI across the University.
We are interested in all branches of philosophical thought that are interested in evaluation, including but not limited to ethics, epistemology, aesthetics, political philosophy, philosophy of religion, legal philosophy, social philosophy and others.
We meet (provisionally) from 11-12:30pm on Tuesdays every week of full term in Michaelmas 2025, held (provisionally) at St John's college.
See the term card for the timetable and details of location, and the option to sign up to our calendar.
We will begin with 8 weeks of Explainers, where experts in a specific domain or area of normative theory, will explain to others the key themes, questions and problems concerning AI from their point of view. The purpose is to help those in different areas of Normative Theory to learn from each other, and to provide a core level of familiarity with different aspects of Normative Theory and their potential application to AI.
We then plan to continue to meet throughout Lent and Easter, with a focus on research interests, papers and collaborations of those involved.
