Respect yourself and others. Everyone deserves to be treated with kindness, including you!
Listen and follow directions. This helps us make the most of every choir rehearsal and helps us be the best that we can be!
Raise your hand before speaking. It's hard for me to teach and you to learn if there are people talking over me!
Come prepared to learn. Coming prepared every day is a great way to maximize your success!
Ask for help when you need it. I am here for you! I will do my best to accommodate your needs!
Always try your best. You get out of choir what you put into it, so if you try your best you will be successful!
In order to be successful in choir, it is important to have all of the needed supplies! All that I require students to have is a black 3-ring binder to hold their music in. Students should also bring a pencil to every rehearsal!
Concerts are one of the best parts about being in Choir! You can find our full calendar of performances HERE.
Concerts are what we spend months preparing for and your classmates are relying on you to be there. Concerts are less than one hour in length and students are expected to stay for the entire concert unless there is a special circumstance that has been discussed with Mr. Langley in advance.
WHAT TO WEAR TO A CHOIR CONCERT: For all concerts (unless otherwise instructed), students should wear their best set of clothes. Please: no jeans, no sweatpants/warm-ups, and no revealing clothing (shorts or skirts should be knee- length when sitting). Wearing appropriate clothing is part of the concert grade. If you cannot afford appropriate concert attire, please speak with Mr. Langley in private and appropriate clothing will be provided.
You will be pulled out of class once every two weeks for a 15-minute lesson with Mr. Langley. Please check the Choir Lesson Schedule for your time and guidelines.
In our weekly lessons we will work on the music that will be performed in our choir concerts. During Opus season, we will also work on the assigned Opus music.
Band should be your easiest and most fun class! Everyone will meet the band standards if they do these three things:
LESSONS. All choir students are assigned a lesson time with Mr. Langley. You can view the lesson grading rubrics HERE.
CONCERTS. Choir requires participation outside the school day for our concerts. Your bandmates are relying on you to be there!
CLASSROOM PARTICIPATION. This includes bringing all needed materials (instrument and music) and conducting yourself in a respectful and cooperative manner throughout rehearsal.
The Regis Choir curriculum follows the National and State music standards, which are outlined HERE. Benchmarks for students are the lesson level sheets.
