As you read through this page, please let us know if you have any questions regarding what to bring or not bring.
Space will be limited this summer, so pack light! You will have at most 2-3 drawers and about a foot of closet space for your belongings this summer. Pack in a suitcase or duffel that can easily be stored underneath your bed.
Here’s a list of what you will need this summer:
Bible (hard copy), notebook, journal, pens
Any discipleship materials you have or books you would like to read this summer
A suitcase or duffel bag you can store under your bed
A car if you have one/want to bring one. Ocean City is very walkable, and a car is not a necessity. But it is always helpful for some students who want to or can bring a car to do so. We will have some on site parking at the Summer Mission housing and their is ample street parking in Ocean City.
Bath towel, washcloth, beach towel, sheets for a twin mattress, pillow, and light blanket (we only provide the mattress).
Sports equipment and exercise clothes
Light jacket and umbrella
Masks
At least one shirt with your school logo
Clothes you can get dirty
Summer casual clothes. Temps will be cool for the first couple weeks, often in the 50s & 60’s, and then it’s mostly in the 70’s and 80’s, and into the 90’s in late July.
Church clothes. We all attend Ocean City Baptist Church (OCBC) together. Dress on Sundays ranges from “dress casual” to “dressy.” For men, that means a nice button down shirt or collared shirt and slacks/dress shorts, but please no jeans. For women, skirts, pants, with a nice top, or dresses.
Swimsuit(s) - This year there is no specific requirement for one-pieces or tankinis but we ask you keep modesty in mind as you choose a swimsuit
A reusable water bottle
A bike (If you want to - but bring a lock as well! We will have bike storage space.)
A copy of your social security card and your driver's license. You will need this to verify employment eligibility to get a job this summer.
A laptop or tablet if you wish (There is Wi-Fi in the main Summer Mission housing, but it may not be as reliable as you are accustomed to. There are plenty of locations around Ocean City with reliable Wi-Fi access).
Pets. Sadly, no pets of any kind are allowed on Summer Mission.
Matches or candles, because of the potential fire hazard.
Any appliances (microwave, air-conditioner, mini-fridge, etc.).
Alcohol, drugs, tobacco products of any kind. According to national Cru policy none of these substances are allowed on Summer Mission and no one is to consume any alcohol, drug, or tobacco related products regardless of age.
