Students in Moldova are open to talk about God, they consider themself Orthodox believers, but they don’t know why Jesus died or that believing in Him leads to eternal life. Students don’t read the Bible and have very little knowledge of stories from it.
As a culture we are very hospitable and open for relationships, because of this we start to build relationships with students from the first discussion and we do many interactive activities so that they will come and will hear the Gospel. Many times when students first believe in Jesus they may not be committed. Often times parents and friends will stop them from continuing to follow the Lord. Being the poorest country in Europe, many students after graduation will go to other countries to find a job. Many of them grew up without parents, because the level of immigration is very high. We trust the Lord that we will become a family for students and will help them to know Jesus.
Receiving Needs
Short term team for projects or specific tasks:
We organise English Clubs in Summer and October and if you speak English you can participate in speaking English with Moldovan students and you will have so many opportunities to share with them the Gospel and help them to come closer to God.
Long term team to serve in your country:
We never had stints, but we are open for it. The main challenge is that in our country so few people speak English that is making it hard for other nationalities to live in Moldova.
Sending Opportunities
What sending is happening right now from your country?
The last few years we had mission trips in Belarus. We speak Romanian and Russian languages, so we can go to those countries, but we don’t have very clear plans for it.
What are your dreams and vision for sending in within the next two years?
One of the dreams is to send a team of staff to Norway, but it is challenging now. We dream to be able to partner with Belarus and to participate in their projects.
