We have a community center in downtown Budapest that gives us the opportunity to connect with non believer students from the high schools, and universities around. Also this is the place, where all the events are taking place both for believers and non believers. It is open in the afternoons for students to hang out, do homework, play and have fun. We also organize different workshops here: board games, cooking, video making.
Our biggest need is to figure out how to share the Gospel through all these new opportunities. Students are interested in hearing about God. But it is very important for them, that we would be a safe place for them, and to make sure they can trust us. We would like to show them that they are loved and cared for.
Receiving Needs
Short term team for projects or specific tasks:
SpeakOut is a four-week Summer Project in Keszthely, Hungary at Lake Balaton. Our goal is to establish participants from many nations as lifelong multiplying leaders using appropriate challenges at the appropriate time within a highly evangelistic environment. While experiencing fun and community, SpeakOut staff are taught from the Word, given multiple opportunities for increased commitment, and are challenged to varied positions of responsibility so that they may gain an eternal, world vision for the Gospel. Usually, people who are coming will be the Tutors for the Hungarian campers. One tutor would have 3-7 campers. During the week they have the opportunity to build relationships with them, have fun and also share their story and the Gospel with their campers. For many campers, this is their first time to ever hear the Good News. Because it is an English camp and the campers are coming to learn English, we are primarily looking for native English speakers to join us. https://speakoutstaff.wordpress.com/
Long term team to serve in your country:
In the past we had STINT teams, who were working with SLM. It was a great help for us in reaching high schoolers, since teaching english in Hungarian high schools is a great opportunity, and the doors are wide open for us, but we don’t have the capacity by ourselves.
Sending Opportunities
What sending is happening right now from your country?
We are sending to the Arabian Peninsula (Dunes), once or twice a year. Also we have been having a partnership with Bosnia, though this past year the CRU staff didn’t receive a permission to stay there. This summer we would like to try to refresh our partnership with Southeast Asia!
What are your dreams and vision for sending in within the next two years?
We would like to continue sending to the 10/40 window, in partnership with the Hungarian Baptist church! We would like to explore an opportunity in Africa or Southeast Asia! We also would like to explore a couple opportunities within Europe where we can serve unreached people groups.
