Cyprus is a small, beautiful island of 1.2 million. Divided by Turkish invasion in 1974, the country is divided. The northern ⅓ of Cyprus is controlled by Turkey, while the Greek-speaking ⅔ of the south is known as the Republic of Cyprus. Currently we are receiving teams and volunteers to launch student-led movements in Greek-speaking, Greek Orthodox Cyprus. Even though a student might have been raised as a “Christian” they have very little knowledge of God, Jesus, and the Bible. They have very little experience seeing faith lived out. Many students already know the gospel but have never read the Bible and do not understand that it connects to and affects their daily lives. Many students say they believe in Jesus but don’t really know Him.
Because Cypriots are very relational, building trust and building the relationship is essential in sharing the gospel. That requires an investment of time. There is currently no Agape student ministry presence in Cyprus and we welcome and invite any Agape/Cru volunteers worldwide to consider investing in long-term missions (one or more years) in order to launch a movement by surfacing, equipping, and coaching students to make Jesus known on their campuses.
