Facts: There are more Albanians living outside Albania than inside it!
There is no Starbucks in Albania, but here in Albania, coffee is not just a drink you get when you need a little boost. It is actually much more than that. It is a way to create relationships, a meeting point for any event, a way to slow down time, an expression of the Albanian community.
Throughout the modern church in Albania, since the fall of communism, Cru has actively reached out to the next generation for Christ. We now have a ministry presence in every campus city in Albania.
We want to help students in Albania and other Muslim countries in our region not only to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, but we dream and pray for them to turn from lost students into Christ- centered laborers, who have God's heart and compassion for the whole world. We seek to reach them through our 'Win-Build-Send' strategy.
Current Spiritual Condition
Currently Albania is experiencing a mass exodus of young people, students and young professionals, who are dissatisfied with the in-country opportunities, safety, and public services. These young people have lost hope and are looking for a better life in Western Europe, US, and Canada. Many new families are going that path too. As a result the number of students in elementary and secondary schools is dropping significantly, and a number of teachers have lost their jobs. The workforce is decreasing. There is a loss of hope and a growing fear for building life and future in-country, as the daily news announces shortcomings of electricity, and prices are going up.
Celebration
Thank God that in the midst of such a hopeless situation, our teams led outreach efforts and summer camps in 20 major cities across the country. Out of 1371 people who participated in these camps, nearly half of them had a unique and life-changing experience discussing the truth of the Gospel. Praise God for 71 who indicated their faith in Christ. Thank God for 2 new sta members, who joined us in July, and for 1 new intern joining us this month.
