Q: What should we do if a library book has been damaged?
A: Please let Mrs. McKernan or Mrs. Marino know what happened. We will do our best to fix the book.
A few guidelines:
Please do not attempt to repair the book at home. The Library has specialized book repair materials and equipment.
Pages that have been cut or torn can often be repaired in the library if you are able to return all of the pieces of the book.
We are able to erase most pencil and crayon marks. Ink marks are more difficult, but we will try.
Liquid damage is very difficult to fix. If a book is damaged by water we will do our best to dry and flatten the pages. Damage from food or other drinks, dressings, sauces, etc. cannot be repaired.
Q: What should we do if we think the book is truly lost or damaged beyond repair?
A: Please contact Mrs. McKernan or Mrs. Marino. We will send you an invoice for the cost of the book. We will be happy to accept a new copy of the lost/damaged book in lieu of payment.
