Dear Parents:

As a first grade team we would like to share our tradition of birthday celebrations. In lieu of sending in birthday treats, your child can bring in his/her favorite book to be read by the teacher. This book can be:

1. A favorite book sent in from home
2. A book the child chooses out of the classroom library

When choosing a book, please consider the length of the book. Books that are 5-10 minutes long are just right for our birthday celebrations. Please no graphic novels because they are difficult to read aloud. We have found that the student feels excited and special when the teacher honors him/her by reading the book that has been chosen.
