Welcome to Little Rock Stars Preschool at Council Rock High School North!
Little Rock Stars is a laboratory preschool program where high school students enrolled in Early Childhood Education courses learn about child development and the skills needed by preschool teachers and caregivers. Under the supervision of a certified Family & Consumer Sciences teacher, high school students apply what they learn by planning, preparing, and leading engaging activities and lessons for preschool children.
Our program focuses on teaching the whole child by nurturing physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development. Children learn through play-based experiences that promote growth in:
Pre-reading and pre-writing skills
Process art and creative expression
Music and movement
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
Active play and gross motor development
Social skills and emotional growth
Most importantly, preschool is a fun, engaging environment where children build friendships, explore new ideas, and enjoy interacting with our enthusiastic high school students!

Yes. A certified Family & Consumer Sciences teacher is always present and responsible for supervising both the high school students and preschool children.
Typically, two high school classes participate in the preschool program. Each class generally consists of 18–20 students. Students rotate through various responsibilities and jobs each day, so not all students are working directly with children at the same time.
On the first day, please send a labeled Ziploc bag containing:
A complete change of clothes
Shirt
Pants
Underwear
Socks
This bag will remain at school throughout the year in case of accidents or spills.
Children may bring a backpack to transport papers and personal belongings, but it is not required.
Please do not send toys from home, as they may become lost, damaged, or misplaced.
Children should wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes that allow them to move, play, and participate in activities safely.
Please dress your child in clothes that you do not mind getting messy from paint, art supplies, sensory activities, and outdoor play.
